How to UBER : New Celerra UBER VSA Guide

I know the UBER version of the Celerra Virtual Storage Appliance has been out for a while. But, finally with some incredible teamwork from the EMC vSpecialist squad I now present the complete Celerra UBER VSA Guide v1.

This guide weighs out at 98 pages of material covering:

  • System Requirements
  • Initial Deployment
  • Troubleshooting
  • NFS provisioning
  • iSCSI provisioning
  • NFS replication
  • iSCSI replication
  • Troubleshooting
  • Installing and Testing EMC Plugins
  • Further Reading and Advanced Use Cases

And here is the complete guide:

I want to shout out and thank the following team for putting this together:

And I want to thank Chris Horn, Bernie Baker, Aaron Delp, and Simon Seagrave for being oversight/logistic contributors for the project

  1. I can’t find the answer to this — am I EVER able to assign management IPs to the storage processors of the storage device inside the Celerra emulator? I’d like to run some Navisphere CLI commands against it. Is that possible? I would think likely not, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

      • Yeah! I had my first ever successful test run using SRM 4.1.with the Uber 3.2. I’ve tried with previous versions of the EMC VSA but it was never stable enough or I just simply could not get it to work.

Thanks a lot everyone. Now to demo SRM to customers.

  2. Hi Nick, Excellent work with the Celerra UBER VSA Guide v1.pdf.

Is there any chance of a version 2 with better graphics. The screen shots are very hard to read Capt Obvious .

    Best Regards

  4. Anyone have a new download link? Ā The FTP isn’t working via IE or Chrome. Ā Not paying for Scribd either.

  5. UBER VSA Guide v1 *not* downloadable. The download link provided in this post is broken. I’ve even manually tried FTP’ing and it seems like the directory structure for the document does not exist. Please provide a valid link. Thank you.
